(CASTELLANO) Aquí no hay trampa ni cartón: la película sabe exactamente lo que es y no intenta disimularlo. Acción directa, tiros, persecuciones, un tono claramente juvenil y una historia que avanza sin pararse demasiado a pensar si todo tiene sentido o no. Y, curiosamente, esa honestidad juega a su favor. No aspira a ser más lista de lo que es, ni a esconder sus costuras. Todo gira alrededor de Dave Bautista, que vuelve a hacer de presencia física absoluta. No es el papel más complejo de su carrera, ni falta que hace. Su carisma y su manera de ocupar la pantalla sostienen buena parte del metraje, incluso cuando el guion empieza a repetir ideas o a tirar de lugares comunes bastante conocidos dentro del cine de acción con cárteles, fuerzas especiales y jóvenes metidos donde no deben. El ritmo es uno de sus puntos fuertes. No se recrea, no se pone solemne, no se pierde en subtramas innecesarias. Va al grano casi todo el tiempo, y eso hace que muchas de sus inverosimilitudes se acepten sin demasiada resistencia. Cuando no te da tiempo a pensar, tampoco te da tiempo a cuestionar demasiado lo que estás viendo. El problema aparece cuando intenta mezclar tonos. Hay momentos en los que parece querer ser una aventura adolescente despreocupada y otros en los que se pone seria, violenta, incluso oscura. Esa mezcla no siempre encaja bien y deja la sensación de que la película no termina de decidir qué tipo de historia quiere contar. No llega a romperla, pero sí la vuelve algo irregular. Narrativamente es muy básica. No hay sorpresas reales ni giros que cambien el tablero. Todo funciona por acumulación de escenas de acción y por la energía que imprime su protagonista. Si buscas profundidad, matices o algo que se te quede dando vueltas después, aquí no lo vas a encontrar. Esto es consumo rápido, casi de videoclub tardío. En conjunto, es una película entretenida, eficaz a ratos y claramente olvidable. Cumple como pasatiempo de acción sin complejos, se deja ver sin esfuerzo y poco más. No engaña, no promete nada que no vaya a cumplir y se apoya en su estrella para salir adelante. A veces eso es suficiente. Straightforward action, gunfire, chases, a clearly juvenile tone, and a story that moves forward without stopping too much to think about whether everything makes sense or not. And, oddly enough, that honesty works in its favor. It doesn’t aspire to be smarter than it is, nor to disguise its seams. Everything revolves around Dave Bautista, who once again delivers sheer physical presence. It’s not the most complex role of his career, and it doesn’t need to be. His charisma and the way he fills the screen carry much of the runtime, even when the script starts repeating ideas or leaning heavily on well-worn clichés of action cinema involving cartels, special forces, and young people in over their heads. The pacing is one of its strongest points. It doesn’t linger, it doesn’t turn solemn, and it doesn’t get lost in unnecessary subplots. It goes straight to the point most of the time, which makes many of its implausibilities easy to accept. When there’s no time to think, there’s also no time to question too much of what you’re watching. The problem arises when it tries to mix tones. At times it feels like it wants to be a carefree teenage adventure, and at others it turns serious, violent, even dark. That combination doesn’t always fit, leaving the sense that the film never fully decides what kind of story it wants to tell. It doesn’t break it, but it does make it somewhat uneven. Narratively, it’s very basic. There are no real surprises or twists that change the game. Everything works through the accumulation of action scenes and the energy of its lead. If you’re looking for depth, nuance, or something that lingers afterward, you won’t find it here. This is fast consumption, almost late-night video-store fare. Overall, it’s an entertaining, occasionally effective, and clearly forgettable film. It works as uncomplicated action filler, goes down easily, and little more. It doesn’t deceive, it doesn’t promise anything it won’t deliver, and it leans on its star to get by. Sometimes, that’s enough.
